Welcome to our first design blog, which will form part our Design Series, where design lovers can learn all about how we transform each part of our home. Let’s share, inspire and admire good design! If you would like to keep up to date with our design blogs, make sure to join our mailing list.

The glass walkway connects the oldest part of the house to an extension completed in the 80s. A glass walkway was the best solution to enable access to the two parts of the house. Although this is a lovely way to immerse yourself in nature, it was completely out of character to the rest of the house and functionally it was failing. Located in the British countryside, we see a lot of rain, and that rain always managed to find its way inside!
At the time, we were renovating the office into a utility room and decided to match the hallway with the same panelling and colour. This was the catalyst for the design choice, it made perfect sense to incorporate the same colour and panelling through the walkway. We decided to add a curved ceiling which a very brilliant joiner created. When we first viewed the house, we were in awe of the winding hallways and quirky spaces. We felt like we were adding more charm to this space.
After boxing in the two raised sections either side, covering the black window dividers and ceiling, it was time to decorate. I would say that we are in no way finished with the space. Where there is empty space, there is room to fill! Some say it’s hoarding but of course we use our favourite word, maximalism. There will be more plants and more pictures over time. We can’t wait for the plants to grow and it for it to feel like a botanical greenhouse, filled with treasure.

To light the space, we added two lantern style lights. We found a gorgeous wooden box, which I believe was used to house cigars, now home to our plant mister and other small ornaments. We have added plenty of small pieces of artwork and along with all the potted and hanging plants, we have boxes of small succulents.
From mediocre to something special. No space will be left from Agatha’s magical touch.
